Durability

December 22, 2009

Has your computer ever taken a spill?  I know my computer has had multiple encounters with falling to the floor.  Think about all the times you have taken your computer with you on airplanes, vacations, road trips and all-day trips.  Many people do not think about the fact that not all computers are built to withstand traveling.

Hard disk drives can be more susceptible to memory loss and damage all because you didn’t think your laptop would ever fall.  Well, if you are one of those people out there who has dealt with a couple of fallen laptops, then you know what I am talking about.

Business notebooks live active lifestyles, and your hard disk drive is most susceptible to the damage that will be caused.  A hard disk drive has tiny spindles and fragile magnetic materials that can be damaged when your laptop is roughed up.  The single best upgrade you can do is to switch to a solid state drive (SSD).

An SSD has no moving parts, which increases the durability of your notebook tremendously. It is different from a hard disk drive because it stores information on an array of NAND flash chips that contain no moving parts. In other words, your notebook will not just become stronger but more powerful and faster just by switching to an SSD.

Why do I need an SSD my computer works fine…

Are you tired of waiting for your desktop or laptop to boot up? Think about all of the time that has passed you by because you had to wait on your computer. Every time you open an application or load a virus scan, you are losing valuable time that you will never see again. If you don’t mind waiting around then maybe a hard disk drive (HDD) is for you, but if you want a fast and reliable computer then step up to a Solid State Drive (SSDs).

Solid state drives were created to perform with exceptionally efficient speed, power and reliability. Solid state is a technical term that refers to an electronic circuitry that is entirely built out of semiconductors. Maybe you don’t care about the technical jib jab and just want to know what SSD can do for you.

We all want our computers to have shocking performance and be lightning fast. HDDs is just not able to perform at the same level as an SSD. Using an SSD allows you to have 4 to 5 times the typical speed of a 5,400 rpm hard drive. After installing the SSD, not only will you see a tremendous boost in your computer’s speed, but it will also provide you with a very reliable product while using less power to be more efficient.

It’s not always about what’s under the hood, but how long-lived and proficient your computer will last. On average, if you switch to an SSD, it will extend your computers life by 1 to 2 years just by replacing your old HDD. Not only will you receive a quality product, you will also see the performance boost as soon as it’s installed.

All I want for Christmas is an SSD!
